Don’t Do It for Me, Do it for the Lord…

23Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. Colossians 3:23-24

Chores, we all have them.  We all have jobs and obligations that we do on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.  We get up to them, and catch ourselves grousing every time, especially if it we are in a rut or we hate our job.  Changing our mindset about the things we do is the hardest part of growing as God’s children.  Instead of thinking that we have  to get it done so someone won’t complain, we need to want to do it for the Lord.  What?  Are you nuts?  Do my job for the Lord?  You’re to have to explain this one.  Okay.  Here is goes.

Does the Lord want you to have that 9-5  job?  Does he want you to do your household chores?  Yes.  Yes, he does.  No, I am not crazy.  The Lord does not put you in situations that you cannot handle.  He also won’t give you jobs that you cannot do.  He gives you opportunities to serve him and glorify His name.  How do you do this in your job or doing your chores?  Work for the Lord!  Smile!  Be  thankful that he has given you an opportunity to make you a better person.  When your co-workers see that you do your job without complaint and to the best of your ability, you just might get someone to ask you how you do it, and before you know it, you have a chance to tell them about the Lord, and why you have a smile on your face.

Until next time, God Bless
