God Helps, But You Have to Do Something…

…Or quit asking God to help you when you won’t do anything for yourself.

Let’s get real for a second.  We all ask God for things, help, strength, understanding, a leg up when you are struggling to make ends meet, but how may of us just sit and wait for his help to come along?  How many people have said,”Yes, I have prayed to God for help to pay the bills, and He hasn’t done anything to improve my situation.”

How do you expect God to help you when He sees that you are not doing anything to make it happen.  Yes, He is there to raise us up when we are at our lowest, but if we are not willing to do what is necessary on our end to improve our situation, how can we be arrogant enough to assume that God will do it all?  He created us with the capability to do great things.  He empowered us to create, interact, improvise, and create our own situations.  He gave us the abilities to raise ourselves out of the mire.  God is not there to do it all for us.  He already has blessed us with life.  It is up to us to make the best of it.

We can ask Him for help to break our bad habits, but if we do not make a conscious effort to do so, how can He provide the opportunities to refrain from falling back into our bad habits.  I think I will leave you with a clip from Evan Almighty.  Who ever wrote this script, in my humble opinion, got it completely right.

Until next time, God Bless.
