… Or are you just full of yourself?
1 Samuel 15:17 Samuel said, ‘Small as you may be in your own eyes, are you not the leader of the tribes of Israel? Yahweh has anointed you as King of Israel.
Saul, who had come from a small family, was made King of Israel, a large enough responsibility in its own right. A few years later, Saul let it all go to his head when he didn’t follow God’s order to the letter. Not only did he get caught up in the spoils of victory, he also erected a monument to himself, two things that God did not tell him to do. He became self-important, taking credit for the victory instead of thanking God.
He had also thought that he could make everything right by keeping the best of the livestock to sacrifice. Once again, Samuel had to put him in his place.
1 Samuel 15:22 Is Yahweh pleased by burnt offerings and sacrifices or by obedience to Yahweh’s voice? Truly, obedience is better than sacrifice, submissiveness than than the fat of rams.
What is success?
Dictionary.com defines it as: 1. Favorable outcome; 2. Good fortune.
Success is keeping your feet on the path that God laid at your feet. Success is heeding His Word and giving Him thanks for the blessings that He has bestowed upon us. After all, He made us in His image, and the talents we have are the gifts He gave to us.
Until next time, God Bless, and don’t forget to Tebow! I mean give Him praise.
